Advent Week 1: HOPE

"Hope: An Anchor and A Gift"

11 am, Michael Brundy, Guest Speaker

Sanctuary & Livestream

Let’s talk about hope. Hope anchors us during the storms of life. Hope has sustained us for generations. Hope is a gift that guides us forward. Today we light the Advent candle of hope to honor that spirit that sustains us and carries us forward even in our darkest hours. Let’s talk about hope.

Hebrews 6:19

“We have this hope as an anchor for the soul, firm and secure.”

About Michael Brundy:

Michael describes himself as a speaker, a writer and a storyteller. His goal is to inform, inspire and entertain his audiences. He loves to share historical narratives and personal stories. Michael has written four books and is a highly recognized speaker.

Recently he has discovered storytelling guilds and associations. He is the president of the Dallas Storytelling Guild and the president of the Tejas Storytelling Association. Michael has been an active member of CSLDallas for over twenty years. He has served on numerous boards and councils at CSLDallas. He has been an active member of his fraternity, Kappa Alpha Psi, Fraternity, Incorporated for 50 years.

He is retired after 40 years in the telecommunications industry. Michael enjoys staying healthy and wise by keeping up with his two grown grandsons.

Spiritual Keys to Aging Well

Change the Way You Think About Aging

For many of us, the mystery and inevitability of aging can be difficult to accept. But when we learn to embrace each day with grace, positivity, and reflection, we realize the rich possibilities aging holds.

The new booklet from Unity, Spiritual Keys to Aging Well, will help you acknowledge the passing of time without buying into the idea that it is synonymous with decline. Unity ministers and New Thought writers—ranging in age from their 50s to 90s—share:

  • What they’ve learned about growing older
  • Suggestions for befriending your changing body and mind
  • Ways to adapt your spiritual practices to serve you with each passing year

Available both in print and downloadable version.

FOR THE COMMON GOOD

Fostering Healing and Joy for Domestic Violence Survivors Through the Holiday Spirit

During the holiday season, gift-giving can be a luxury for those affected by domestic violence. Parents often sacrifice their needs to make the holiday special for their children. That’s why we created ‘Santa’s Shack’ in shelters, allowing children to choose gifts for their parents, who also deserve to feel cherished.
