The Practice of "Welcome"
Rev. Melinda Wood Allen, Message and Music
11am, Sanctuary and Livestream on Facebook
The Practice of “Welcome” --What if everything that shows up in our lives is truly for our good? Would we learn to embrace and find the gifts in all the ways life presents itself, instead of those we predetermine to be “good”? How much energy do we waste judging and fighting conditions? Using Father Thomas Keating’s Welcome Prayer, let’s explore the practice of greeting all of life with a hearty welcome.
About Rev. Melinda:
Rev. Melinda Wood Allen is currently Sr. Minister at Church of One Love in Dallas, TX, an independent New Thought center “teaching only love.”
A sought-after speaker, teacher, workshop and retreat leader, as well as a award-winning singer/songwriter/actor & recording artist, she has traveled around the country presenting at NT centers, community action groups, recovery conferences, spiritual retreats, and even prisons.
Musically, she defies categorization, as her songs (and 4-octave range) span genres from classical to Jazz, rock to gospel, country to pop and folk. Melinda’s passion is in combining her inspiring music with her knowledge and experience of Spiritual Principles to present programs that are heart-opening and life-changing.

"New Thought Meat and Potatoes"
Rev. Lari Goold, Guest Speaker
11am, Sanctuary and Livestream on Facebook
Traditionally Unity and Science of Mind review the basic principles of New Thought in January. It’s time to review what we teach and how to use it. “Change your thinking, change your life” was the motto on the Science of Mind magazine for many years. Taking responsibility for your experiences is a life assignment! Let’s get back to basics.

The Board of Trustees has made the decision to temporarily pause our Youth and Family Ministries Program.
We ask for everyone’s support while we make space for a robust program with a focus on Unity curriculum development and family engagement. In the interim, we welcome and encourage the children to attend church with their families. We are providing art tablets, books, crayons and markers in the sanctuary.

Living Fully in the New Year
by Rev. Teresa Burton
My intention this year is to keep reminding myself to live fully by making my goals less about changing, which feels too much like work, and more about welcoming, which feels more like opportunity.

Best Friends Animal Society
Right now, Best Friends’ emergency response team is on the ground in Los Angeles, offering help and support to other local animal welfare organizations while also working to ensure the safety of our own pets and staff in our Pet Adoption Center.
Los Angeles is seeing unprecedented wildfires in residential areas that are dangerously close to Best Friends Pet Adoption Center in West Los Angeles. At this time, Best Friends Staff and the animals in our care at our Lifesaving center in Los Angeles are safe from the nearby wildfires.
Our team is monitoring the situation closely and while we have not been given the order to evacuate, we are ready to do so if needed. Our priority is the safety and well-being of our animals and team members. To that end, our Center is operating with a skeletal staff and is temporarily closed to the public for adoptions.
For the first time in recent memory, Best Friends is in the unique situation to be offering help and support to other local animal welfare organizations while also working to ensure the safety of our own pets and staff in our Pet Adoption Center.
We are in communication with our partners in Los Angeles and are assessing where we can help.
We are deeply grateful for the outpouring of support and kind messages from those concerned about the well-being of our pets and staff. Follow our social channels for updates not only about what Best Friends is doing, but how we’re helping our partners navigate this situation.
