The Youth and Family Ministry at Unity of Arlington includes interactive programs for all ages. We believe in learning through fun!

Are you joining us from another faith tradition?

You are welcome! If you have questions, feel free to reach out anytime. We are here to support you on your spiritual journey.

Unity is a positive, practical, progressive approach to Christianity based on the teachings of Jesus and the power of prayer.

Unity honors the universal truths in all religions and respects each individual's right to choose a spiritual path.

We are very happy that you have found us. Your children will be having fun, and learning in a safe, positive loving environment when they are a part of our Sunday morning classes.

We are a welcoming and inclusive congregation.

We practice Unity spiritual principles as a way of life.

Our programs and experiences invite the Divine potential in each individual to grow and expand. We introduce our youth to tools of affirmative prayer, Living Curriculum, meditation, and service to others.

The Living Curriculum is a process of spiritual support used to assist children, teens, families, and the church community in co-creating successful living. Our curriculum:

  • honors the inherent wholeness and wisdom within each one of us;
  • utilizes storytelling and experiential creative expression to “draw out” the Truth we already know; and
  • helps us to explore spiritual principles and to become aware of how the principles operate in our lives.

What Parents & Guardians Need to Know

Classes meet during the 11 am service. Children may arrive as early as 10:30 am.

Please check in your youth every Sunday. Check-in is located in the foyer of the Administration Building next to the Sanctuary.

Our community appreciates seeing the children's faces and blessing them as a group, making them fully aware --  each and every week -- that they are very special, loved, and they are here to do great things!

So even though our youth spend most of the service with their youth group they will return to the Sanctuary near the end of the service.

Immediately following the service, please pick up your youth are at the front of the Sanctuary

A few other notes...

  • Food is not allowed in our classrooms.
  • For the safety of the children, we require all volunteers who work with our youth to submit to a criminal background check.
  • To ensure the maximum safety for the children, a parent/guardian is required to sign the child in. This includes teens.

Early Childhood

Ages 2 to 5

Toddlers Unity

Young children are full of curiosity and questions. They are developing the capacity to respond in a loving way to others and to take responsibility for their actions. Our curriculum creates experiences that:

  • Help the children know that they are loved just as they are.
  • Explore Jesus as a model of love and goodness
  • Help the children understand that they, too, have the spiritual potential to act in ways that bring out their best selves.

Elementary

Kindergarten - 5th grades

Young Kids Unity

These students are energetic, curious, imaginative, and enthusiastic. They are learning what it means to be in a relationship with each other. They are exploring new ideas and are developing the ability to explain their ideas.

Our curriculum creates experiences that:

  • Help the children see Jesus as a person who had challenges and difficulties but created a relationship with God that helped him to move through these challenges with loving kindness and generosity.
  • Invite the children to explore how they too can let God live through them as an expression of life, love, and kindness.

Uniteens

6th - 8th Grades

Tweens Unity Arlington

Preteens are going through huge physical and emotional changes. They are excited to be moving into the teen years but also scared of the unknown.

Youth who are moving from the elementary years into their teen years are exploring how they are -- and their peers are very important to them.

Our curriculum creates experiences that:

  • Explore Jesus as a person who lived and is also the example of God moving in and through us.
  • Help them know they are inherently good and that they have choices as to how they can interact with others.

Youth of Unity (Y.O.U.)

9th – 12th Grades

Teens YOU Unity of Arlington

Teens can think through problems on their own and want to be respected for who they are. They sometimes feel like an adult, ready to assume responsibility and sometimes feel like they can’t handle anything.

Our curriculum creates experiences that:

  • Invite them to consider that God works in and through us
  • Help them know they create their own world through the thoughts they give power to and what they choose to see and believe
  • Help them to know that each of us has the power to live and do as Jesus did.
